Lands are waving, waters are changing,

Those islands are dying now.

For the sweet pain beating the shore,

Mothers are singing of their late children

To conceive the coming stars.

地は波打ち、水は変わり

かの島々は滅びゆく

打ち寄せる懐かしい痛みに

母たちは亡き子を歌い

次の星々を孕みゆく

 “Ukishima-Junrei “ (pilgrimage to the melancholic islands) is the title of solo show that was held after 5 years. The quiet and transparent light in the field of animal’s view, or some sights and scenes of the faraway land were expressed in monochrome on parchment (goat skin).

「憂島巡禮(うきしまじゅんれい)」は、菅野まり子5年ぶりの新作個展。
動物たちが見た静謐で透明な光の世界を描く。

パーチメント(山羊皮紙)にモノクロームで描かれる、最果ての光景。
